“Why do GOOD People Suffer? And I need a definitive and a honest-to-goodness answer”, I told GodJi.
…and he replied, “…because they are GOOD!!! That’s WHY!!!”
“WHAT?????”, I almost screamed! Recovering from his heretic gunshot, I fired back, “So, do I start worshiping the Satan?”
Bemused, he smiled and pleaded me to look him in the eye!
“Ek toh Chori Upar se Seena Joori”, I said, (roughly translated as First you steal, then you defend your act by force), still avoiding his glance, the veracity of which had already burnt my mutiny to worship the satan.
“It’s true!”, he said, “the good are “GOOD”, they need to be liberated FIRST from the cycle of life…that’s why they suffer!
“Not clear”, I blurted!
“ …the residual karma of their past actions and thoughts results in their suffering, mental as well as physical. So, with suffering they are paying their old Karmic Debt”, he said still smiling.
“…oh ho…”, I scorned at his explanation, “…and can I know what happened to the karmic debt of the sinners, the B.A.D. people?”
He laughed, and assuredly said, “First chance is given to the GOOD people, since they are GOOD, for the BAD people time will come later. The law prefers the GOOD First. Whatever happens to you and whatever will, is your doing not mine. I just regulate the infinite possible outcomes to satisfy the infinite permutation and combinations of actions and reactions for infinite people.”
“Interesting, then please tell me, when will the rioters, the murderers, the thieves, the scamsterssuffer!”
“Soon”, he said, “their time will come. In all yuga people have always asked me, “Why Me”, and if I tell them why, they won’t be able to live a single day with all that negativity. Whatever you do or think, it generates an instant karma there and then. I am obliged to honour the law of karma. I too can’t escape my own rule”.
“You Can’t?”, I said, totally confused.
“Didn’t Ram, Krishna or Jesus suffer in their life time? Their sufferings were the karmic debt of my past “GOOD” deeds, when I favoured Mankind over Devas, Demons and Evil!” he replied.
“Hmm, interesting, if you can’t do anything for yourself for your own GOOD deeds, then it’s only NORMAL for people to suffer because of their bad deeds”, I said little annoyed.
“…but I also can do miracles!” he beamed, “…and you can do too!”
“I can!!!!!!!!!!!!” totally astonished.
“Yes”, he said softly, like a baby, “you already have the technology to create miracles to do anything, even alleviate sufferings. The problem with mankind is that it always complains about suffering but forgets the means to sail through that suffering.
“How How?”, suddenly I had become all EAR to him
“Just chant my name, I have enough resources to annul all the bad karma of all the souls even if they do it every second of their lives till eternity! Just Chant my NAME!!!”, and he started to dematerialise into the silent reverberation of his own Name!
“GodJi GodJi ! I… have more questions”, I leaped to catch him by the foot.
“What now?” he said.
“How can one chant your Name, if his body is wrecked by the bulldozer of pain? How can anyone concentrate on your name if mentally he is distressed by the devils of satan”, I lamented.
“…whatever happens … numb your mind of the pain with the balm of my Name. Just remember me and disregard the pain and suffering and …it’ll shall pass! The more resistance you offer – the more you will suffer… JUST LET IT BE…PRAY and thank me for giving you a chance to GET RID of the accrued KARMIC DEBTS… and have faith… the sooner your credit-debit balance is matched, the sooner you’ll be with me!” he said.
“Are you suggesting that we shouldn’t do anything about the suffering and pain”, I said
He still smiled, “Oh, Please do take charge of your life, take your medicines, treatments and remember that I give only that much pain which you can handle and if it is in excess, I provide medicines and people in your live to alleviate it!”
“…Also, do tell me, should we help the people in pain, or let them suffer, since it is in accordance with your divine order”, I pleaded.
“You’ll be in position to help/ reduce sufferings of others, because of your GOOD Karma, do exercise your free will, DO HELP without the sense of DOERSHIP, DO FEED THE HUNGRY WITHOUT feeding your EGO!” he said smilingly.
“…So what should one do in Suffering?” I asked.
“Drop the resistance, don’t curse ME, or the circumstances… by questioning, why is this happening to the “GOOD” You – you are NOT ONLY DOUBTING MY INTELLIGENCE, MY LAWS but also JEOPARDISING YOU CHANCES FOR MY MERCY!”he sermonized.
He continued, “TAKE YOUR DRUGS WITH A PRAYER, to let the debt be paid soon, pray for STRENGTH to RIDE YOU OVER YOUR KARMAS, Rejoice BECAUSE THAT SUFFERING IS YOUR PATH TO liberation …your salvation, TAKE REFUGE OF MY NAME by taking your thoughts away from the pain, and believe me, I won’t let anybody suffer a nano-second beyond what’s their DUE!”
“…And, how do we RELATE to THOSE WHO HAVE CAUSED OUR SUFFERING?” I quizzed him yet again.
He smiled again, “BLESS THEM…for they have given you the opportunity to pay your karmic debt. Don’t CURSE but love them…it not them who have caused your suffering it’s YOUR OWN DEEDS. Anything negative will still add to your debit …which of-course you’ll pay later. Besides…these sufferings are my way to increase the Rajas and Saatvic Tatva in your composition.Believe me …it does bring mankind CLOSER TO ME”, and winked impishly.
As he again started to disappear, I thought of all my sufferings and YES, it had brought HIM to my retinue in my journey called LIFE.
…and YES it had built my perseverance, character, hope and maturity and as aparoxysm of PAIN overcame my deep meditation, I started enjoying it ….for I knew BLISS is just down the road of Pain and Suffering…
